GT-Pro Series (rFactor 2)
Another race day for our team: The drivers travelled this time to the Street Circuit of Valencia for the 7th round of the GT Pro Series, presented bySimracing United. In spite of very successful races during the first half of the season, the Black Hawk Racing pilots went out with subdued expectations to the Spanish coast.
Nevertheless, the team succeeded to conquer the 5th pole position in a row! In the very last moment, Markus Walter grabbed the top position and thus created a very good basis for the race.
The other starting positions: Alex Bräutigam P7, Bernd Schmidt P14, James Duku P16, Patrick Baaden P17 und Sascha Glatter P19.
Right at the beginning of the race there was the first scary moment. In Turn 1 Markus Walter was hit and nearly turned around. But he was lucky and was able to catch his vehicle just yet, but dropped back to the 4th position.Patrick Baaden was also involved in an accident and had to serve a dubious penalty.
Apart from that, the race developed satisfactorily for the guys from Black Hawk Racing. Alex Bräutigam and Bernd Schmidt maintained his position among the top 10. Bernd completed a fine first stint, until he was a victim of an accident in the 13th lap. Under braking for the last corner, a driver lost control of his car and crashed sideways into the BHR pilot. The result was a significant damage and the hope for a good result was gone.
Overtaking on the Valencia Street Circuit turned out to be difficult. Although halfway through the race, the Black Hawk Racing drivers Markus Walter and Alex Bräutigam found themselves on the good positions 6 & 7, but could not be further improved.
Due to a good pit strategy and a few errors of other competitors, both drivers were able to push forwards and Markus Walter even managed to finish on the podium. In addition to the 3rd place of Markus, Alex finished 5th and completed again a good team result. Congratulations on this good performance once again.
Unfortunately, it wasn't a successful race day for our other Black Hawk Racing drivers. Here are the results:
The GT-Pro remains on the Iberian Peninsula and travels in 2 weeks to the Circuito de Jerez. For this race and for the rest of the season, we wish our drivers the best of luck.
