Last friday was the first round of the Raceunion Porsche Cup World Tour at the legendary Mount Panaroma, better known as Bathurst. Our driver Bernd Schmidt took part here in the 55 driver field. After the Qualy he found himself on P45 which was P15 in his AM category. He knew that the most important thing would be, to bring the car over the race distance of 60min, so he didn't cared to much about that his Qualyfiying result wasn't as good as he has planed. In T1 was a crash with 3 cars and he was able to get through it, few hundred meters later, a car directly in front of him braked,
due to a standing car on the left side and Bernd hasn't had any chance to avoid it, which ended in a huge crash for him and his car was badly damaged, which resulted in a 24min repair stop. After the stop the car was driveable, but not at the standard where it was before, so his laptimes wasn't that fast, but he said it was important for him to get more laps done, cause he loves this track especially the part over the mountain. At the end he finished on P34 overall. It was definitly not the season kick off we've expected either we want, also Bernd was frustrated ad said:"Well to start a season like that is the same like shoot a ball and miss an empty goal. At the moment it's really disappointing but now it's more important to keep my head high and be ready for round two at Daytona, to fight back."
At the end congratulations to M. Benecke from Pure Racing Team for the victory here at Bathurst and all other drivers on the podium. Thank you Manuel Wendel for your great job behind the microphone and the great broadcast we had here and of course Raceunion for making all this possible. We also wanna wish, every team and driver, admins and commentator of the Raceunion Porsche Cup World Tour, merry christmas and a happy new year.
Now we're looking forward to round two at Daytona International, January, 19th 2018
