Ready to Race Get a Cockpit

Last sunday was round 16 of the championship at Watkins Glen International. After the Qualifying Bernd found himself on P17, he had only 1 lap here on the roadcourse instead of the 2 laps he has normally on the ovals and unfortunate he goes sideways over the gras in T1. First time now for a Nascar race at a raod course and Bernd was a bit nervous from starting at the back of the field, he had a good start into the race and was trying to get some positions, at the exit of T1 there was a small contact with Sievers and Bernd spun out, fortunate he avoided it to hit the wall.

Now the race "started" again, but this time from P23 and with a bigger gap to the drivers in front of him. His pace was good and consistent and he was able to caught the field quite fast and was making two positions in a short time, then behind Roemer he stucked for 5 laps and only a little failure from Roemer made it possible that Bernd caught the next position. From now on it was a long, hard and fair fight against Krafzik, strategy wise there wasn't much to do, cause only one stop for everyone was needed, so Bernd decided to do his stop two laps later than Krafzik and it was a good decission, as he exited the pits he had a clean air in front of him and could use his fresh tyres as good as he could, he closed the gap to Krafzik from lap to lap and finally he made a move into T1 with success. Now it was time to bring the car home on this position, the gap to Stoehr in front was to big, why Bernd decided to take it easy now and don't risk a crash. At the end of the race Bernd finished on P13. which was after the spun in the first lap, a good recovery drive. In the rookie championship it will be really hard now for Bernd, cause Gomis finished on P5 here and Bernd is now 28 points behind him, with two races to go. Next sunday, December 10th, is round 17 at Kentucky Speedway.
