Ready to Race Get a Cockpit

Last sunday was round 15 of the championship at the Daytona International Speedway. After the Qualifying Bernd found himself on P14. With the good top 10 result from last week, it was ours and Bernd’s goal to make it again into the top 10 here at Daytona and the circumstances wasn’t to bad. Bernd had a good start into the race but he missed the chance to go down and so he was on the outside lane and lost a few positions, but the first caution came early in the race and Bernd was lucky to avoid the cars and had just a small touch with the barrier, which gave him slight body damage.

After the restart he noticed that he lost some top speed due to his body damage, so it wasn’t easy for him to overtake neither to defend, but he managed it very well and during the next caution he decided to pit and repair a bit oft he damage which worked out as it should and his top speed was nearly back where it should be. Bernd did very well so far, avoided two wrecks and found himself in the top 10, everything goes the way it should and one caution later he was in the top 5. During the race it shows that his strategy wasn’t the best, cause after his last pit stop under green, he was nearly alone on the track, there for he lost a lot of time, cause the drivers in front of him was still driving in a pack which is much quicker here at Daytona due tot he draft. Anyway, a top 10 result was nearly safe now for him so he knew it’s important now to keep the focus high, stay concentrated and bring it home. Close til the end oft he race there was again a caution and as the green flag dropped after it, there was 3 laps to go and also the caution saved Bernd’s fuel, which means he could made it til the end without another pit stop for a splash and dash. Green flag dropped and the 3 lap sprint race started, Bernd on P6 could defend it perfectly and tried to make maybe one more position, at this point on the exit of T4 two cars in front of him crashed with each other and Bernd found a way through and that brought him up to P4, which was also his race result. We’re very happy about our first top 5 result here in this league and porud of Bernd who made a good job here at Daytona and we hope that the last 3 races oft he season will bring similar results. Next sunday, December 3rd, is round 16 at Watkins Glen International, this will very interesting to see the Nascars racing at a road course.
