Last sunday was round 14 of the championship at the Homestead Miami Speedway. After the Qualifying Bernd found himself on P16, not the best but still a chance to grab a spot in the Top 10 with a good strategy. Bernd get a decent start into the race and after 7 laps he found his rhythm and he started to manage his tyres, cause he knew it would be a hard way to bring them over a stint without losing to much time, after 32 laps the first caution came out and Bernd was happy cause he ruined his tyres a bit too much in the first stint. Right at the restart of the race there was a huge accident with several cars,
cause the brake pedal of K. Adam stucked and so he wasn't able to get away, luckely Bernd was on the outside lane and so he wasn't caught in the crash. A few cautions followd til lap 60 and then with a smaller field it was a green flag run for the next 100 laps of the race, Bernd found a good strategy for himself and he was able to bring his tyres from one stop to the other without loosing much time at the end of his stints. With 20 laps to go Bernd was on P5 and he was hoping that M. Kiss will take a while through the traffic, but with the complete fresh tyres M. Kiss was pretty fast and it was easy for him to cut through the traffic and unfortunate for Bernd he overtooked him quite easy 4 laps til the end of the race. But we and Bernd are really happy that the third top 10 result of the season is in the books with this 6th place here at Miami and the fight for the rookie championship is still on going between C. Gomis, Bernd and P. A. Castro, 4 more round to go, so keep your fingers crossed for Bernd and us that he maybe can make it. Next sunday, November 26th, is round 15 at the Daytona International Speedway.
