Last Monday was time for the fifth round of the DSTM with race 9 and 10 at Le'Mans. After an disappointing race at Watkins Glen both of our drivers said, here at LeMans they will be back for the positions around the top 5 and after the Qualifying it definitly seems to be that this will be a good evening with Patrick starting from P5 and Bernd in the same row from P6. First race, 20min with a standing start and both catched a decent start into the race, Mercdes driver P. Schallenberg from RSO had a better reaction and catched both of them,
but at the Hunaudières the Mercedes hasn't had any chance against the Ferrari and so it was possible to fight for the position but Schallenberg know how to fight against an overtake and managed his positions against Patrick. Due to a hardware failure Schallenberg has finished his race then in lap 3 at the Arnage and our drivers climbed a position, while Patrick was fighting against Reincke Bernd had a great fight with Schalk. In the penultimate lap Patrick braked a bit too much into the Porsche curves and spun, but he was able to control the car in a good way without touching the wall, so he could race on. At the end of the first race, Bernd finished on P5 and Patrick on P7, the victory was grabbed by G. Miesen from Piranha-SimRacing, followd by M.T. Huthsfeldt also from Piranha-SimRacing and T. Czerny from RSO. In the following main race with 60min Patrick started from P5 and Bernd from P7, this time it was a flying start and both catched a very good start and was able to fight for the positions in fron of them. After a few laps Patrick was on P2 close followd by Bernd on P3, then in lap 5 Patrick let Bernd thorugh who was followd close by F. Jungbluth from GTTempel Racing and Patrick and Jungbluth unfortunate made contace in Indianapolis, which ended in a spun and a slight damaged car for Patrick, he decided to pit directly after this incident and have a longer second stint then. Meanwhile T. Czerny and G. Miesen closed the Gap to Bernd and now he felt the pressure, but he handled it very well and defended his 2nd position til he decided to pit in lap 8. After the pit stop he found himself behind T. Czerny and G. Miesen but directly in front of A. Czerny and N. Carstensen and so he couldnt manage his tyres as he would, cause he has to push all the time and drive the car on the limit. N. Carstensen then started an overtake into the Porsche curves and with an good overview from Bernd they managed it to go side by side through them with the better ending for Carstensen, Bernd tried to get the position back into the Ford curves but he hasn't any chance and gets too much temperature in his tyres, he paid for this then in the Dunlop corner and lost the position against A. Czerny, now he was fighting as hard as he could to get both positions back but in the end he couldn't made it, the race was 1 lap to short for him. Patrick made a perfect job after his incident and had a top pace, so he was able to fight his way back through the field and at the of the second race Patrick finished on P9 and Bernd on P7 and we saw the same podium as it was in race one, this time T. Czerny from RSO gets the victory followd by G. Miesen and M.T. Huthsfeldt both from Piranha-SimRacing. With this great results from both drivers we're very happy and definitly looking forward to the next race in two weeks at October 30th at Indianapolis.
